Cobra Starship, Paula DeAnda, Robin Thicke, Billy Talent
Cobra Starship is an American pop punk band created in 1995. The members consist of lead vocalist Saporta, guitarist Ryland Blackinton, bassist Alex Suarez, Nate Novarro on drums and Victoria Asher on keytar, all of whom provide backing vocals. Cobra Starship was signed to Decaydance Records and spent part of autumn on tour with Gym Class Heroes. While the City Sleeps, We Rule the Streets, which features the previously released song “Snakes on a Plane”, was released October 10, 2006. Cobra Starship released their second album, !Viva La Cobra!, on October 23, 2007. It was produced by Patrick Stump, who was also credited as singing some backup vocals. The album has been toured heavily worldwide. Cobra Starship headlined the Really Really Ridiculously Good Looking Tour with guests Metro Station, The Cab, and We The Kings from January to March, 2008. They also played on Warped Tour 2008 and headlined the SassyBack tour, which toured from October 7 through November 30, 2008 with guests Forever the Sickest Kids, Hit the Lights, and Sing it Loud. In 2009, a new album was announced for a tentative release in the summer. The band has worked with Kara DioGuardi, Kevin Rudolf, S*A*M, Sluggo and song-writers Benny Blanco and Patrick Stump.
Robin Thicke is an American Grammy Award winning singer, songwriter, musician, composer, and occasional actor born on March 10, 1977, in Los Angeles, California. Robin Thicke is the son of actor Alan Thicke and his first wife, Days of our Lives actress and singer, Gloria Loring. They divorced when he was seven. Throughout his childhood, he would be exposed to music by Bruce Springsteen courtesy of his father, as well as Luther Vandross and Whitney Houston courtesy of his mother. Robin Thicke began his songwriting career by penning hits for popular artists such as Christina Aguilera, Mya, Brandy, Marc Anthony, and Jordan Knight. In 2002, Robin Thicke released his debut single “When I Get You Alone”. The track samples Walter Murphy’s “A Fifth of Beethoven,” which itself is a disco rendition of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony. In 2004, Thicke won his first Grammy Award for his contributions on Usher’s 2004 release, Confessions. During 2006, Thicke was featured on the track “Shooter,” from Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter II. On June 11, 2005 Robin Thicke married his highschool sweetheart, Paula Patton, whom he met in a teen club at age fourteen. He has since released his third solo album, entitled Something Else, on September 30, 2008. It debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 charts and sold nearly 140,000 records the first week.
Paula DeAnda is an American pop/R&B singer-songwriter and actress born on November 3, 1989. Paula DeAnda was born in San Angelo, Texas, to Mexican-American parents. She has three siblings, including two sisters named Brandi and Jessica, and a brother named Sterling. She began performing songs by her favorite artists with her cousins at family barbecues. At an early age she started taking piano lessons and singing around town, and also would play in local weddings. In 2002, DeAnda’s family decided to move to Corpus Christi in order to further her musical career. Paula DeAnda’s major breakthrough came when she auditioned for Clive Davis and Kenneth Brown SR. then was signed to Arista Records on the spot. “Doing Too Much” was the lead single from her self-titled debut album. It was released in July 2006 in the United States. This was followed by the release of the debut album on August 29, 2006 which features guest appearances by Baby Bash, The D.E.Y., Bow Wow, Lil Wayne, V Nice, Ak’Sent, and P.B. On September 29, 2008, DeAnda went to a charity festival for Hurricane Ike in Dallas, Texas. She performed her hits “Easy”, “Walk Away” and “Doing Too Much”. Then, after the performance, she volunteered to be in a dunk tank full of mud. Rapper Yung Joc threw a ball to dunk DeAnda in the mud. Paula DeAnda is currently working on her sophomore album, due to be released in 2009.
Billy Talent was formed in 1993 in Streetsville, Ontario. It’s members include Ben Kowalewicz on lead vocals, Ian D’Sa on lead guitar, Jon Gallant on bass guitar and Aaron Solowoniuk on drums & percussion. In 2002, the band met with record executives, and ended up signing a co-venture agreement with Atlantic Records and Warner Music Canada. In the fall of 2003, the band released their full-length self-titled album, Billy Talent. The album found a measure of success and was certified three times platinum in Canada in January of 2007. Billy Talent II hit the shelves on June 27, 2006. It fared very well in Canada in its debut week, landing in at number 1 on the Canadian charts. It also enjoyed significant success in Germany, where it also debuted at number 1 in the album charts in its debut week, and was one of the top 10 selling albums in the country. As of June 15, 2007, the album has sold almost 700,000 units worldwide, 215,000 of them in Canada, making it certified double platinum, and with 200,000 shipped units in Germany, it achieved platinum status there as well. Their third album, Billy Talent III is expecting a tentative July 9, 2009 release date.
